No more beating around the bush for Bungie. In a recent update from Bungie, a huge amount of cool information about customization in Halo: Reach was released.

Customization is becoming more important in gaming and Bungie is catching up with the game. With all of the customization that took place in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, gamers everywhere are in need of constant freedom to customize their avatars. This does a lot for games, too. It adds so much to games and gives players something to constantly strive for. Now, not only are players battling to level up, but they are battling to unlock new equipment for their characters. Everything is so personal and interesting now that game companies finally broke away from the cookie cutter online play.

Pictured above is the Initial Armor Inventory.

It’s really nice to see that Bungie actually took the players’ advice and added this huge amount of customization into the upcoming extension of the Halo series. Among expansions on the previously customizable armor, which were helmet, shoulders, and chest pieces, we will now also be able to customize our visor color, wrists, knee guards, and even the voice our character will use in Firefight, a mode where a player fights off waves of enemies to survive. Two other options are the Utility option and the Armor Effect, which will deal with the special armor enhancements. All of this seems a little crazy, but to see such dedication from Bungie is amazing. Players will be very grateful in the end for all of the ridiculous customization that Halo: Reach will bring. My question is, what could the future hold for customization in video games? I’m hoping to see a huge expansion on customization in upcoming games. Maybe we’ll even get to see competition between companies to see who can give players the most freedom in customization.

If you’re as interested in customization and expression of your inner gamer, then you should definitely check out the upcoming Halo: Reach, set to hit stores September 14, 2010.

I was looking at that and figured you would just be able to use Cortana's voice, since that's the only thing that makes sense at this point.

Hang on, Cortana is a playable character? How would that work, exactly?
